What is an Improved Flywheel

Every Powersports flywheel has the same core conception. It is a wheel frame with permanent magnets, usually made of rare earths, held on the inner rim of the flywheel using an epoxy adhesive. Improved flywheels use this exact same basic conception.

The difference lies in a protection that improved flywheel have against chemicals. The additives present in the motor oil can dissolve the epoxy holding the magnets and make a great mess in your stator case. An improved flywheel has a cover sealing the magnets and the epoxy from these additives, thus eliminating the problem virtually forever.

In the unlikely case where a magnet would manage to detach, the cover will retain it. Using a flywheel equipped with a cover will then protect you from having a flywheel magnet destroy your stator and the motor’s interior.
